  • Senior management team member with 10 direct reports in both database consulting and CRM disciplines. Direct responsibility for management of $1Million dollars of annual revenue. Pitched and closed additional $1Million+ in new projects this year while simultaneously managing existing accounts.   • Provided customer and prospect segmentation solutions to a major Business Intelligence solutions provider’s (Cognos) marketing department using SPSS and its own tool. This gives the customer the ability to see gaps in their prospect list. This ultimately allows them to spend wisely when purchasing contacts.

  • Provided customer and prospect segmentation and CRM visualization solutions to a major heavy equipment rental provider’s (United Rentals) marketing department. This initiative defined their core, growth and niche segments and shaped and supported their direct and traditional marketing decisions for the upcoming year.

  • Provided strategic direction and resources on multivariate and conjoint model based projects and new business pitches.

  • Proactively assumed account management responsibility on major CRM services accounts.

  • Spearheaded an initiative to forge a partnership with a major marketing operations solutions provider.

  • Inherited strategic leadership of Boston based call-center. Analyzed profitability and presented a plan to the COO to wind down the business. Sent an RFP out to vendors. Kept CRM database in-house and built Cognos based analytics tool to access the data.

  • Outsourced tele-services to a lower cost provider. This eliminated multiple cost centers for the agency and created calling efficiencies and flexibility for the client.

  • Designed and built a 500GB marketing data-mart for a major philanthropic organization. Data marts included group, customer and purchase activity.Maintained and enhanced a homegrown CRM system with limited documentation.

  • Maintained and enhanced a supporter registration processing system which was lacking documentation.

Tourtellotte Solutions

Principal Consultant - April 2001 - April 2004

Medium sized software development company specializing in custom software and data warehouse development.
  • Senior management team member (Principal Consultants report directly to the President) with 5 direct reports on top of project level reports. Responsible for new business development, strategic planning, billable client service and direct report career path development.
  • Grew company from 3 man, $1Million/year in revenue operation to $6Million in 3 years.
  • Identified problems within existing clients, (primarily Pfizer). Up sold additional services to create new, annual revenue streams.
  • Recruitment efforts yielded high-performing, long tenured employees.
  • Project Manager and Technical Lead on the FDA Financial Disclosure project for a major pharmaceutical company, Pfizer Inc., New London, CT.
  • Managed $500K in annual revenue for company on this project.
  • Created a CGI based GUI, Oracle backend product that is easy to use, understand and deploy, taking care to consider functionality and ease of use for the user community, deployment team and production support group.

  • Created java application development environment using tomcat application server for internal development. Designed object oriented human resources and time and expense system for internal company use.
  • Wrote a markup language, which is used to migrate Oracle database objects and code to new versions.
  • Wrote a program to extract objects from the Oracle database for storage in version control repositories such as CVS.
  • Wrote a complex re-supply program algorithm for a clinical trials management system for Pfizer Inc., New London CT.

Application Consultant (Sales Engineer) - Northeast Practice - March 2000 – April 2001

Indianapolis based software product company specializing in marketing and analytics software. The main product is called Aprimo Marketing and is written using MS .net technology with MS SQL Server or Oracle.
  • Took this opportunity to obtain real life insight into how a software sales organization operates. Gained an acute understanding of presentations, ROI, value propositions and the meaning of the phrase “sales vs. implementation”.
  • Technical subject matter expert supporting 5 sales representatives throughout New England, NY and PA.
  • Assisted in closing sales to Toys R Us, PTC and Kronos.
  • Product demonstrations and value presentations for C level executives, vice presidents, marketing professionals and information technology teams.
  • Managed a major tradeshow campaign for a software company, PTC, using Aprimo Marketing.
  • Integrated Aprimo Marketing with customer systems. Designed data interfaces from in-house systems to Aprimo Marketing.
  • Managed Aprimo Marketing campaigns. Created HTML (Flash 5 enabled), targeted communications.

Senior Consultant -North Data Warehouse Practice - January 1998 – March 2000
  • Specialized in data warehouse / data mart designs and implementations for major corporations such as Fidelity, Gorton’s, Gillette, Friendly’s and Fort James (now Georgia Pacific).
  • Trained in Oracle's Leadership Methodology
  • Lead developer on an Oracle 8.0.5 warehouse for a major paper products producer, Fort James (now Georgia Pacific), Norwalk, CT. Used many aspects of PL/SQL to optimize the performance of the data extract and transformation. Was also able to make drastic improvements to the overall performance of the warehouse for users, often reducing query times from several minutes to a few seconds.
  • Developed working proof-of-concept business intelligence system for a major financial institution, Putnam Investments, using Oracle 8.0.5, Designer 2.1.2, Express 6.2 and RAM/RAA 6.2.
  • Proposed, sold and implemented data marts for a major financial institution, Fidelity Investments, Boston, MA. This was a highly successful project that had several phases.
  • Used Oracle 8i with Discoverer 3.0x as the front-end tool.
  • Born out of a need for ad-hoc reports from Oracle Financials data. The initial internal project created a series of complex views that were accessed by Discover.
  • Single handedly convinced Fidelity project sponsor and 3 members of FMR senior management team to start a project to create user-friendly, subject-oriented data-marts that they could use to answer business questions.
  • Started with one data mart as a proof of concept and later seven more were built. The project has since had several more successful phases, including the implementation of Essbase for OLAP analysis.
  • Performed system audit and server recommendation for a major retail goods producer, Gillette South Boston, MA.
  • Worked with a team to design a large staging area for major consumer package goods (CPG) producers, including Smuckers. Used Designer 2000.

Consultant – Healthcare Practice, Management Consulting Practice - September1996 - January 1998
  • Analyzed and managed design effort on a data warehouse for a major healthcare provider, The Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati. Used Oracle 7.3 with Discoverer 3.0. Acted as lead developer and system/data analyst. Client was a first mover on Discoverer 3.0. Built several data marts to analyze patient data. Lead architect on a team of actuaries, database developers and DBAs.
  • Lead developer on major telecommunications (Ameritech) data warehouse effort.
  • Developed specification design of a clinical workstation for a major hospital as part of an enterprise-wide package system implementation.
  • Year 2000 financial, people and time analysis for a major hospital network, including developing/ documenting a C/S, Maces 7.0, financial and risk measurement tool to be used firm wide.

Consultant - Application Developer - June 1995 – September 1996

Small to middle market accounting/consulting firm employing 100 accountants, 20 consultants and many sub-contractors.

  • Lead developer on a 50 user, patient referral tracking system for a major healthcare organization (Cleveland Clinic) in Powerbuilder.
  • Worked on a team developing a case management system for a public defender's office in PB 4.x.
  • Developed multi-user purchasing system for shipping company, Oglebay Norton (fun fact: they owned the Edmond Fitzgerald).
  • Wrote RFP's, worked on package selections, proposals and project plans.
  • Went on sales calls with firm partners, senior managers. Helped answer technical questions or give time estimates to help close sales.
